THE PLAINS FROGLET
Appearance
Small frog, ranging in colour from light cream to dark brown. Covered in raised warts and ridges. No webbing between toes.
Habitat
Inhabits forest, heathlands, grassland and cleared pastures. They shelter under logs and leaf litter, near the waters edge, where they can be camouflaged.
Diet
Mostly insects as well as biofilms and algae
Breeding
This frog can breed at anytime of the year, but peak breeding season is late winter through spring.
Eggs are laid either singularly or in clumps, and are attached to substrate in the water. Eggs will hatch 3-4 days after laying, with the tadpoles maturing after about 12 weeks.
